One of those things… over the knee boots. Very “Pretty Woman”. Why? Because they are sexy. Why are they sexy? No idea. Most men find women in over the knee boots very attractive even though they cover up quite a bit. I have always liked them. Probably because there is a little bit of a common streak running through my character. Really only a little bit, but it is there and it sometimes
wants needs to get out. Which resulted this time in knee high boots. (No, I do not say that every woman who buys over the knee boots is common.) View Post
Saint Nicolaas (Sinterklaas as we call it in The Netherlands) needs a bit of explanation. It is a tradition from long ago. The story: a bishop, declared holy, called Saint Nicolaas, gives presents to little children on his birthday, the 5th of December. He arrives on a steam ship (yeah.. right..) from Spain. And he has helpers who climb down the chimneys (….) to deliver the presents in each house. The presents are put in the shoe of the children who have placed them near the fire place (… in an appartment?). Children put a carrot in the shoe for the white horse of Saint Nicolaas. It is a bit like Santa Claus at Christmas with reindeers. You can also read a funny explanation of this tradition on the site Stuff Dutch people like.
This is the good bit. Now the controversy, or better said, the battle which is going on around Saint Nicolaas. View Post
Another dress. I am living up to my promise, arent’t I? More skirts and dresses. This lavender dress by Max Mara is my best buy at the outlet in Turin this August. Oh and the boots as well: comfortable in spite of the high heel and I think they make every dress and skirt look modern. Which was my biggest problem: how to create a more modern look with dresses and skirts. View Post
When you know you will have your coat on most of the day, you’d better put on a nice one. This kimono coat was another purchase in that little boutique in Paris where I bought the sequined top. It is wool, nice and warm but still elegant. Perfect for shopping in Eindhoven, which was our destination, chosen by my Shopping Saturday friends Anke and Sabine. The Dutch Design Week was on, so we could combine creativeness with shopping. View Post
When Ron and I were in Paris, I didn’t want to spend a lot of time shopping as I knew he doesn’t like that. Not anymore, I should add. When we met, he would happily shop with me for four hours on a stretch. One sad day that ended.
As Ron found lots of fun places to visit in Paris, I didn’t mind not shopping. Especially not as I had already spent quite a few pennies in Turin and in The Netherlands. So what’s with this sweater in the above photo? Found that on Friday in Le Marais, an area of Paris which is full of lovely shops, cafés and well dressed women. But that was not my fault. Ron wanted to go to the museum of arts and crafts (Musée des Arts et Métiers) and that happened to be very near Le Marais. I didn’t suggest the museum. Please take note of that. View Post
